To this day, April Ponsford vividly recalls the raw, unspoiled beauty of her birth place in Northern BC, Prince  Rupert, Canada.   April's adventures of backpacking, canoeing, and combing distant beaches, is a distinct visible influence seen throughout her paintings.  All in all, the work reflects a compelling sense of place and atmosphere, and at the same time reveals a revolving world of fragility, calm and chaos.

“I strive to exhibit with skill and originality all I hold dear to my heart: unrestricted space, personal freedom, and environmental preservation.  The work, is a poetic response to my seeing and experiances; they are as much about what's unseen as what's seen."

In every part of April's life, her love of art is evident.  No stronger is this noticed than in her privilege to teach elementary students as  an “artist in residence” and during her 18 years as an educational assistant.

April has been exhibiting since 2004, with solo shows between 2006 - 2011, and on going work displayed at “The Gallery @ Mattick’s Farm.  Her paintings are in private collections across Canada, and through-out the world.
